Indonesia

Greetings from paradise...

Paradise Internet Cafe that is. This is an appropriate name though, because the island i am on is amazingly beautiful - picture perfect white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. I am currently on a small island called Gili Trawangan a few miles offthe coast of Lombok (and not too far from Bali). It is only 2km square and there are hardly any tourists (as with the rest of indonesia).

Have taken 4 flights already to get here(London-Singapore-Jakarta-Jogja-Lombok). We spent 3 days in Jogja with my friend Taz's friend(an Indonesian Diplomat's daughter). Was a bit weird though hanging out with Indonesia's elite - driving round in an airconditioned Merc sightseeing! We went to some cool sights (Borodudur, which is a huge buddhist temple, was really cool) and also went whitewater rafting. It didnt feel like real travelling though, so my friend and I both appreciated heading out on our own and heading to Lombok to do some more 'real' travelling.

Anyway, got to Gili today and I could quite happily spend the rest of the trip (and/or life) here. Will behard to move on! Indonesia itself is a cool country. It is similar toThailand and Malaysia in many ways. The people hereare friendly (although still being harassed constantly to buy stuff). We also spent 4 days in Bali - had 2 days in Kuta and2 days in Ubud which was too touristy for me. Back to the beach...
